About Our Home

There is something about looking out a window and seeing a mother bear and her cubs, that makes your heart skip a beat with wonder and excitement. Or perhaps sitting quietly in the hot tub, catching snowflakes on your tongue as the steam entirely envelops you to create a perfect sanctuary. Imagine hiking through the empty woods for hours, quietly sorting things in your mind and then coming home to relax in front of a warm fire with a great book.  It is so peaceful here that you might need to walk (or take a snowmobile) to town, just to reassure yourself that you are not the only human being on earth - as you explore the culinary treats, the work of artisans or more of nature's remarkable beauty. My late husband and I fell in love with this extraordinary location and it has been a memory-making setting for my children and grandchildren. I hope the memories you create here, will likewise last you a lifetime.

The Bear Cottage Cabin has been designed with a combination of luxury and comfort in mind. It is warmly furnished and appointed. It offers hand-carved doors, tumbled marble in the bathrooms, slab granite and maple cabinets throughout, state-of-the-art stainless appliances, three televisions, two of which are high definition (52-inch and 42-inch), satellite TV, home theater surround-sound, a copper fireplace and a gas fireplace in one bedroom, central heat, and rich hardwood floors. Several decks make for wonderful outside entertaining, as does the Jacuzzi hot tub, which offers total privacy. Bose speakers complement the Jacuzzi and decks. In the winter, snowmobiles can be arranged for an additional fee. No smoking is ever allowed anywhere on the property.

Hear what one guest had to say:
I stayed here with a group of friends and we couldn't have picked a better house. It's absolutely beautiful and close to everything we could possibly want. I love that while some of us could go snowboarding, others could go into town for beauty treatments or just hang out in the cabin and stay warm.  It really suited everyone’s needs. Also a house with 3 king beds was unbelievable! Everyone slept comfortably. The hottub is giant and very clean, it was a godsend after a day on the slopes. But the biggest draw for us was the living room! All 9 of us were able to sit on a big beautiful comfortable leather couch to enjoy movies on the giant TV by the beautiful fire. No one had to sit on the floor, or pull in a chair from the other room. This house was meant for friends and family to be together and really enjoy their time. The layout was so open, it was wonderful. The kitchen had everything we needed to make our big family meals, and no one ever felt left out of what was going on in the rest of the house because of the wonderful open floor plan. We had perfectly-working Internet (some people had to do some work over the weekend on their computers). There's just something about this place that makes you melt into a couch in front of the fire and chat the night away with a glass of wine. It was truly wonderful.

Appliances, Electronics & General Information:
The kitchen provides the following for your use: refrigerator, stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave oven, toaster, mixer, blender, and coffeemaker. You may find some food items, spices, etc., that were left by other guests, but you should be prepared to shop for your own. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, utensils, glasses, pots and pans and bakeware. We provide a starter amount of dishwashing and dishwasher detergent, paper towels, and the cone filters for the coffee pot. We have a washer and dryer that you are welcome to use, but you will need to provide your own detergent and dryer sheets.

We provide a large screen television with a Dish Network satellite. There is a remote that has a "Channel Guide" button on it. The home has central heat and there are two fireplaces, one in the great room and another in the master bedroom suite. You can enjoy your favorite music while relaxing in the luxury hot tub with built-in stereo and Bose speakers. The hot-tub will be on "economy" when you arrive. This keeps it warm, but not very warm. Before you plan to use the hot tub, perhaps about 60 minutes before, you can change the setting to standard. There is a small panel with an up arrow that will allow you to change the setting. Please keep in mind that if young children will be in the hot tub, the temperature should not be very warm and you need to be extremely cautious that they are never left unattended. The decks surrounding the cabin have ample seating for everyone in your party. Sometimes you can catch bears running through the yard from the hot tub deck. There is also a fire pit on the deck and you are welcome to use it, but again, you will need to buy your own firewood or a Duraflame-style log for that.

In the garage you will find 5-6 bicycles of different sizes. You are welcome to make use of these bicycles on or off the property. This home offers an amazing wilderness area for riding.
